The Federation of American Hospitals retained SKB to design and manage their new 9,500 square foot offices in downtown Washington, DC. The new office includes a large conference room for various coalition meetings, private offices, an interview room/conference room and support spaces. The concept of the design was to reinforce the nature of the conference room as a place where people representing diverse constituencies meet in one place looking for common ground that would lead to solutions. Articulation in the wall and ceiling panels in the lobby and breakout spaces reach up and over into the main conference, joining in a luminous ceiling that signifies light created by working together. The traditional wall of member logos is in the main conference, but set back to serve as more of a gentle reminder than an intimidating force.
