Law Firm | WASHINGTON, D.C. | 260,000 sf | 2016

Confidential Client is an international law firm with more than 140 years of successful practice that was looking to revamp their 260,000 square foot Washington, DC office located on busy Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The firm occupied all 13 floors of the building plus an off site records space and wanted to consolidate their DC operations into one structure while giving back two floors to the landlord.

The client wanted to revitalize their current 10-year-old space to provide more natural light, sophistication, and an intuitive arrangement of the office corridor system while incorporating a cohesive aesthetic to reflect the culture of the firm.

SKB developed a program and design that upgraded a majority of the space to a high level of interior architecture while staying within the modest budget originally developed for the 50% renovation. The completed project includes the entire renovation of the second floor reception and conference center; the complete renovation and expansion of the 13th floor dining facility; reconfiguration of all office floors to provide additional attorney offices and more flexible, functional interior support spaces; and the insertion of a common component on each floor which serves as a multi-purpose destination for social gathering, collaboration or formal meeting space.
