Law Firm | Washington, DC | 30,000 sf | 2013

Foley Hoag’s new office at 1000 Connecticut Avenue, NW represents the third project the two firms have collaborated on over the past 20 years. The new office design reflects Foley Hoag’s growth in stature as an international law firm with prestigious clients working on globally important matters.

The design takes advantage of the building’s large interior core space by inserting a large conference center at the building center. The client wanted to both maximize the number of attorney offices on the perimeter and maintain a public reception and conference center that was bright and open. The design solution involved an architectural element that incorporated millwork and a glass shingle wall comprised of two types of textured glass, top-lit by LED grazing lights, which created the effect of bringing a lively exterior facade even though it is 20 feet into the building.
