The number of desks and workstations has not decreased so much as the size. What has changed for many offices is the amount of formal and informal meeting space. If people are going to make the effort to commute, they are doing it in part to see and work with others in the office. SKB has been designing offices around the country for real estate firm Walker & Dunlop, and the nucleus of the design is a public space that is designed in layers, from very public to semi-private.
